#I don’t know if Brynn remembers that first time we hung out and how we sat in front of the Cathedral and watched that couple have that ri… #diculous photoshoot. #one of my fondest memories - that entire day really #I always think of that couple whenever I go to the Cathedral or think about it. #And I also remember how you told me it was modeled after St Peter’s in Vatican City but that’s it’s a gothic version of it. #OH TRAVEL FRIEND #HOW WE HAVE NOW BECOME DENVER FRIENDS #I like that there are multiple versions of our friendship though. #Love you boo. #I don’t know when a photo of Berlin turned into a love letter to Brynn.
OH HEY so I was just stuck in an elevator as it went up and down repeatedly without stopping and the emergency team had to talk me through the process of resetting the elevator from within, and there is a high chance I may never ride an elevator again.
That is, until I’m too lazy to walk up the stairs.

Remember that time I texted Brynn with “and convince Big Freedia to become my best friend,” and then she got BIG FUCKING FREEDIA to actually call me last night and have the best conversation of my entire fucking life with me? THOUGHT SO.
#AND Y’ALL WONDER WHY I LOVE HER AS MUCH AS I DO. #I spent legit about ten minutes yelling IMMA SHIT MY PAAAAAANTS to Jereme right after I hung up. #I’m so homesick and was bummed I couldn’t attend the show and that was DA BEST. #Big Freedia was also like come check me out when you’re home in September. #OH GIRL I WILL. I FUCKING WILL. #NO BUT FOR REAL HOW AMAZING IS BRYNN #I LEGIT WAS ABOUT TO SHIT ALL OVER THE PLATTE RIVER. #And then I had one of the best nights of my life and ugh NOT LAST NIGHT DENVER. YOU DIDN’T GET TO WIN. NOT AGAINST ME OR BRYNN. #We’re rocking the shit out of this town right now.
Brynn is the kind of friend who if I tell her “hey, want to go to the country’s largest suspension bridge over a gorge this Sunday?” she automatically says “OK!”

Y’all should be following joolsandnigel. Why?
Allow me to bullet point the ways.
- She’s a good person. Not in that pandering, “aw she’s great” sense, where great can mean she’s actually great or just makes you feel better about yourself, but Rocio is good because you spend time with her, and feel the better for it. Continue on.
- She’s funny. Born storyteller: if she’s saying it, it’s with conviction. There’s a Taylor Mali poem in which he implores students (and the listener) to SPEAK WITH CONVICTION. Rocio does, and she speaks with humor to boot.
- A bottle of truth conversation with her spans mental illness, sexism, One Direction, American psyche and One Tree Hill. Enough said.
- She’s present. Especially in the age of the internet, it’s too easy to talk without feeling invested, as if you’re truly part of the conversation. Speaking with another turns into speaking between texts and Google updates and new emails- Rocio shoots through that. If you’re having a conversation, you’re having a fucking conversation.
- She’s kind, and wonderful, and may not know these things, but that doesn’t make them less true. I’m lucky to know her (no but seriously, pure chance and McDonalds on this one).
Three important things:
- If you were anywhere in my vicinity yesterday, you know I successfully parallel parked a car. In under 5 moves!And then I took a picture of the feat with my phone, and called my parents. I haven’t parallel parked in 6 years. I don’t drive regularly (unless it’s taking people to the airport).
- I’m house/dog sitting. It’s kind of odd to be sitting in someone else’s house Tumblring, surrounded by the vestiges of adulthood. But guys! A dog! Who wants to hang out with me! It’s like camp, but better since I’m not sunburned and I don’t have a regrettable crush on that 13 year old!
- Rocio came over last night, and in the middle of watching a movie, the three of us (Rocio, me, and Nesta (the dog)) harmonized while howling. AMAZING. (and we realized that if we were trapped in an Egyptian tomb with a floor of snakes, we’d definitely spend a significant portion of time talking about the pickle we were in, and the various male celebrities we’d want to be in the pickle with.
